What does the decision record cover?
- Site access. Inductions, clearances, medicals, and vehicle approvals, lead times confirmed, not assumed.
- Mobilisation. Transport, accommodation, camp costs, equipment freight, priced as cash against the term, with demobilisation included.
- Scope and variation. How scope growth is instructed, measured, and paid; handshake variations are donations.
- Liability. Delay exposure, performance deductions, and indemnities under buyer-drafted terms, read with delay caps, service credits, and transfer mechanics.
What sinks mining services bids?
Hypothetical, to show the shape: a maintenance scope two flights from the depot, camp at buyer rates that rise annually, mobilisation amortised over an initial term the buyer may not extend. Margin exists on paper at full term and vanishes at one year plus demob. Remote delivery without overlap (no adjacent contracts sharing crew, supervision, or freight) is a startup wearing a tender number. Price the overlap the way environmental and waste scopes demand it, or decline the geography.
What does the gate look like?
Access lead times against the mobilisation date. Mobilisation and demob priced across the committed term, not the hoped one. Variation mechanics in writing. Liability read clause by clause against insurance actually held. Any blank row is a review with a date, not a bid with fingers crossed.
